Hey there, My names RJ.
I’m a collaborative Brand Designer based in San Francisco with a background in creative direction, graphic design, and illustration. I’m a self-starter who thrives on creative problem solving and working cross-functionally to bring ideas to life.
Since moving to the Bay Area in 2013, I’ve worked in-house and freelance across a wide range of clients and industries.
As Creative Director at CPG startups like Wholesome Bakery, I’ve developed brand identity systems, owned production design, and led copywriting and messaging. I’ve embedded across departments at Old Navy and Intel, illustrated medical guides for Stanford School of Medicine, and partnered with local businesses, nonprofits, and city agencies on identity, design systems, and visual assets across web, print, email, and packaging. I’ve also directed product and lifestyle photoshoots for brands like Specialized, Brompton, and Santa Cruz Bicycles, and taught Art Education at Pixie Hall Studios.
In my free time I can be found designing record layouts, merchandise, and playing in my band, soaking up sun on a run or on a walk with my dog, Walter, taking photos, or drinking in design inspiration from across the city. I love considering and examining the world up close and feel my work is informed by those careful observations and appreciation for everyday life.
